How to blog advice

I’ve already said many times here that this is a little “adventure with no plan”. I just do what I feel like doing and present or comment on events and people that I find interesting in some way. I have no agenda, except freedom of expression and freedom of opinion, within self-set bounds of taste. Some items I include because I think they might interest my readers. Others are just for me. Some things I write just to get them out of my head. It’s just a wee blog—the view from behind blue eyes.

My comment: The way I do this little effort every day also keeps me from (I hope) “getting the big head” as we used to say. I don’t think I’m solving anything, bringing any important person down, or even being charmingly funny. I’m mostly doing it for a selfish reason, keeping myself a little ’straighter’ than usual and using editing skills in a new way for me. But, I also get to share with an anonymous audience (much like my TV show days)—actually the whole connected Websphere, if they find my blog and care to tune in. If they don’t, fine with me. There’s no money being made here, just free information about our wacky, wacky world. And, I’ve only been here for 4 months.

The Atlantic magazine and online has a fine article by Andrew Sullivan about his adventures in blogging (‘Why I Blog’) and what it all means vs. ‘real writing’ and publishing by traditional authors. Very interesting stuff.
