The basic premise of the global warming activists is that the current or some day in the past (must be about 1980 since that seem to be the date that we need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1980 levels) is the perfect temperature for life on earth and any deviation from this temperature is/will be catastrophic to the planet. Man’s activities on the planet is the cause and man needs to cease activity to return the planet to some previous state which was more Utopian than today.

I hope the “religion” of Global warming is starting to fade with the observable cooler than normal fall that has occurred in the US and most of the world.

Here is a good editorial from IBD on Global warming and some opinion polls.

If you are interested in some information which will cast doubt on the “scientific consensus” of global warming here is a great site www.isthereglobalcooling.com/

If you want to look at the daily sea ice coverage in the arctic here it is for Dec 3, 07 vs Dec 3, 08

We are going into a low point of sun spot activity which is cyclical so it is going to be cooler.

The only way that I will ever believe in man made global warming is if everyone who gets any money to “study” global warming voluntarily says that man made global warming is such an indisputable fact it no longer needs to be studied. Due to this we will send our study money to a private industry which will create something to “cure” global warming.

The “cure” seems to be a cap and trade system where a government agency will control who can produce goods using energy and who can’t produce goods, Of course the government keeps a cut to cover administrative costs.

Sounds like socialism where the government picks the winning and loosing businesses. I wonder if the “winning” businesses will have the largest campaign contributions.

As always, follow the money trail and you will usually find the truth.

My comment: I recall 1980 as one of the hottest summers ever, that I have been in Dallas, TX. And 1984, as well. I was working mostly outdoors as a television cameraman during those years. I recall a deathly hot day at the Formula 1 Grand Prix race, July 8th, ‘84, here in Dallas, which I was shooting. The sun had that “hurtful burn” to it… the top of my head sunburned, through the white cotton cap I was wearing. If the climate here gets like that again, I will be indoors, I assure you. The race car drivers were really suffering. They’ve never raced here again.
