50 days and counting down
December 2, 2008After Jan 20, it’s back to battlin’ the cedar brush at Prairie Chapel Ranch, Crawford, TX…
“all alone an’ drankin’”… sounds like a country song
Miz Laura will be in Big D, writin’ that Stepfordy little memoir…
“The girls were fine, I was fine. Our cook made delicious food. We didn’t see George a lot for the first four years. I just loved the furniture. The phones were great. They were just everywhere. I may try to do that with my, uh, our Dallas house. It will be so good to see some friends. And I just loved to sit in the hall with those fabulous Palladium windows and talk on the phone. The staff said I talked on the phone more than any First Lady since Pat Nixon… well. before she got so bad, you know, and just ate popcorn all the time. Posture and manners, that’s what makes a good First Lady.”
My comment: Pity the poor Secret Service guys who get that assignment… can you imagine having to listen to his bullchip stories for the rest of his life?
“Uh-huh… yessir… yep… huh?… well, I’ll be… you don’t say… yeah, I think you told me that one yesterday… well, how ’bout that!… naw, we don’t wanna shoot him—that’s Jeb, ya brother… nah, I think I got a shift change ’bout now… thanks, anyway, see ya tomorrow… nope, no idea whatsoever where Mr. Cheney is… good nite, now.”
